Ready Set Indie Games Live Streams: Steam Next Fest: Catizens (PC)

The Following game Catizens was provided to me for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to thank the developers/publishers for providing a free copy of the game to play on my stream.

The following Live Stream Footage of Catizens the Steam Next Fest Demo and therefore is either an alpha version or beta version demo of the game. Therefore, the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game.

In this Live Stream, Ready Set Indie Games plays Catizens Demo on PC.

Catizens is a colony-building game in which you must control a group of cats as they set up a colony. You will gather resources to build your colony as well as defend it from oncoming predators. One of the things I thought that was interesting about the game is that it feels more like a resource gather game than it did a farming sim and colonization game. It could be just the demo but the thing is that it looks like you advance from level to level and create new colonies on each level, by following the directions. So to me, it played more like games those resource time management games where you complete the objective and move onto the next level.

I'm hoping that maybe that was just the Tutorial for the game and that the real game itself, is more of a stand-alone where you build one colony and continue to build on your colony and invite others in. Similar to that of Kingdom of Kieflings where you build things and build up the town back into a Kingdom.

Looking at the steam page it does say that it is supposed to be a sandbox game, so again I am hoping that the level aspect of the game was just for the Demo and to be used as a Tutorial. I would even accept that as being a story mode to open up buildings to use in a true sandbox mode because in these types of games I really like building cities with some objectives here and there and just playing the game for what it is.

Overall, I will go back and play the game again off stream as it just released an update for its Demo, which may have fixed some of the things I ran into, and see if the levels are just Tutorial based and then I will update this a bit later. Overall, the game is still fun and I did enjoy it.

If you would like to play for yourself, you can get the demo during Steam Next Fest which is going on from June 16 - June 22, 2021. I am not sure if the demo will be available after that time so if you like what you see of the gameplay be sure to wishlist the game on steam if you enjoy it as well:
